Olé!
I had fun with this card; treating the title font like ceramic tiles stuck to the wall with grout. I also played more with the hand-painted sign effect I started with the Behar card.

I grew up in Key West, which has a large Cuban community. I've always been drawn to the aesthetic they carried over from Cuba. One of the many ways they displayed this aesthetic was in the hand-painted signage of their businesses, many of which were restaraunts...my favorite display.

Crown
The exhibit is hung and this is the last card pertaining to the Auschwitz Album. We were approached by David Crown, a local print-making artist who had received a copy of the Auschwitz Album many years ago and was compelled to make a large series of prints reflecting the photographs. I was able to incorporate his work into the exhibit at the last minute and I'm glad I did. It opens up a broader dialog and tells a story within a story. After all the other ominous material I've been emersed in recently, this card was really uplifting.

The concept revolves around the Center's logo (crowned pomegranate tree) which was made by Martha Golab, a paper-cut artist from Poland. The blocky overlapping type with shadow effects seem to jump off the page and the bright playful colors demand attention. I had a lot of fun with this project.
